Christmas 2008

WHEW!  What a December!  We have had company for the last two weeks and now...silence.

Andrew was up here the week before Christmas and my mom, stepdad and aunt arrived the day after he left to be with us for Christmas.  It was certainly a good time.  We have thoroughly enjoyed all of our company and now we are beginning to put our lives and routines back together.

I hope all of you had a good holiday as well.   Here are some pictures of  a few of the highlights of the last few weeks.  Enjoy.

Hilarious!!!

The other night, Jax was in the over-stimulator and having a grand old time.  I am not sure why, but the line from "Finding Nemo" popped in to my head so I said it.  Apparently that was funny.  Jax got to cracking up and before long, we were all laughing.

The sound on my camera is a bit weird, but you can still get the idea.
SHARK BAIT HOO HA HA!

Thanksgiving in Alabama

This past week was a BLAST!  The fam and I headed south for the week of thanksgiving in a feeble attempt to escape the bitter frosticity of the midwest.  We left last Tuesday at 2 and drove to the other side of Louisville where we stopped for the night.  We could have made it that night, but Kim and I had already decided we were going to stop and take Jax swimming.  We made it to Huntsville by lunch time on Wed and met Andrew for Mexican food.

Thursday was spent with Steve, Rachel and their three (yes three) kids.  It was so great to be back with them.  We were able to catch up with so many folks who mean the world to us.  The Holladay's treated us to dinner on Saturday night and we got to spend some time with our old "crew" on Sunday evening after church.

All in all, it was a good trip and leaving proved to be as difficult as always.  We truly have much to be thankful for.  Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Kim's Birthday and Halloween

Well, a lot has certainly happened since I las updated.  I apologize for waiting so long and I promise to try and not let a MONTH go by before I update again.

Let's start with Kim's birthday.  She is always so great and completely spoils Jax and me, so I decided to do something special this year for her.  After all, she turned 27 on the 27th.  Some folks from church decided to have a bonfire in October and agreed to let it double as Kim's surprise birthday party.  Kim was clueless.  She just thought we were going to burn stuff until we walked through the door and the house was decorated for her B-day party.  She was definitely surprised and I had the bruise to prove it.  She also thought that we were broke-ish and didn't know that we had received a rebate we were expecting which I used to buy her the present she has been begging for since we got married--a Dyson vacuum cleaner.  I promise, it is what she wanted.

Moving on to Halloween.  As usual, Todd and Tracy hosted the party this year and it was a ball.  Steve did beat me in the costume contest, but he had to wear tights to do it.  If you think you can handle it, check out the pics below.  We dressed Jax up as a sock monkey and it was awesome.

Well, I better go, Jaxon has rolled 3 feet away from his blanket and it now chewing on the couch.  By the way, he cut his first tooth!

Hope you are all well.

Dinner Time

OK where do I start?  When Kim and Jaxon went to the doctor last time, the doctor told us it was time to start feeding him cereal so that he could get used to the idea of eating baby food.  We were pretty excited about that until we actually tried to feed Jax, per the doctors instruction, a watered down version of the cereal.

He went postal.  He didn't cry.  He didn't whine.  He didn't submit in writing his displeasure with this new eating situation.  He screamed himself some bloody murder.  After recovering from the fit, Kim and I decided that we would just skip the cereal and feed him baby food when he was ready.

Tonight, however, for whatever reason, we decided to try again.  This time the results were a bit different.  The little porker couldn't get enough.  Therefore, I share with all of you the following pictures.  I should warn you though.  If you don't have kids, these will probably gross you out, and with good reason.

Just in case the pictures aren't painful enough, here is a video as well.

Back to the Doctor

Well, our boy is growing like a weed.  Kim took him to the doctor today and he weighs 16 lbs. and is 26 inches long.  What a beast!  He also had to get 4 more shots so now Kim understands why I told her last time that I was never taking him to get shots again.

We start on cereal tomorrow and baby food is right around the corner.  I am not sure I am ready for all that.  I feel like I am just now getting the hang of bottle feeding without feeling clueless.

Every day, he does something else that I love and is so much fun to be around.  He "talks" non-stop when he is awake and that is pretty funny.  All in all, I feel like he is the one spoiling Kim and me.  I guess that means the next kid is going to be a terror (more like his mama, maybe ;-)

I know I am going to get grief for the last comment so bring it on.  ha ha
